Facebook Vs. Twitter


There are many social media websites on the Internet like Myspace, Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, Hi5, Classmates, etc.  The 2 most popular social websites are Twitter and Facebook.  Facebook and twitter have about over 100 million users worldwide. Most people or users don’t know the advantages or disadvantages of them and don’t know the difference about Facebook and Twitter.

 Here are some advantages and disadvantages of facebook and twitter:
Advantages

Facebook:
  • Facebook is very easy to join. Any person new to the medium can perform the whole process of joining and then building a profile.
  • It enables you to easily find groups that are related to your interest
  • You can search and reconnected old friends, classmates, and etc.
Twitter:

  • Creating an account is extremely trouble-free. Anyone can join twitter and the best part about it is that you don’t have to put in a lot of details about you; just the general information is more than enough.
  • The characters are limited to 140 words, which is a good thing as there will be no need to write or read a whole essay.
  • Twitter has many applications.
Disadvantages:

Facebook:

  • Facebook addition is the main problem that is been faced by youngsters from around the world. This gives them no time to be involed in other activities.
  • Some People have over 400 and don’t know half of them. So, that can be unsafe
  • Facebook has a lot of spam and scams! Many users receive emails nearly every day from anonymous users asking to date and chat on other websites.
Twitter:

  • There is no privacy, anyone can follow you even if you don’t know them and see all your updates.
  • With only 140 characters being allowed you cannot give the detailed information you want to put in there.
  •  Tweets are all over the place. It can be difficult to pick over the Twitter updates popping up around the web.
Difference between Facebook and Twitter:

  • Facebook requires two-way verification for full sharing between two people. If someone doesn’t accept your friend request, you most likely can’t see what they are up to, because most people stick with default strong privacy settings. On Twitter, you can see just about anything about anybody, unless they protect their updates, which only a small minority of active users seem to do.
  • Twitter doesn’t have comments. So you can’t easily have a back and forth conversation about something like you can do over on Facebook.
  • Twitter has been used by TV shows to get feedback from their audience while Facebook gets few mentions in the media here and there
  • Facebook is very popular but mainly in young people while Twitter has skyrocketed in popularity and is even used by famous people and politicians.
  • Facebook sticks to the more traditional social networking where you maintain your profile while Twitter relies on its micro blogging feature.

  1. Facebook is mostly a social network as twitter is more of a location based way of sharing info to the public. I use both Facebook and Twitter and have about 5 accounts on each network. I dig Twitter, wish more people used it.
