Facebook Vs. Twitter

There are many social media websites on the Internet like Myspace, Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, Hi5, Classmates, etc.  The 2 most popular social websites are Twitter and Facebook.  Facebook and twitter have about over 100 million users worldwide. Most people or users don’t know the advantages or disadvantages of them and don’t know the difference about Facebook and Twitter.

Here are some advantages and disadvantages of facebook and twitter:
Advantages

Facebook:
  • Facebook is very easy to join. Any person new to the medium can perform the whole process of joining and then building a profile.
  • It enables you to easily find groups that are related to your interest
  • You can search and reconnected old friends, classmates, and etc.
Twitter:

  • Creating an account is extremely trouble-free. Anyone can join twitter and the best part about it is that you don’t have to put in a lot of details about you; just the general information is more than enough.
  • The characters are limited to 140 words, which is a good thing as there will be no need to write or read a whole essay.
  • Twitter has many applications.
Disadvantages:

Facebook:

  • Facebook addition is the main problem that is been faced by youngsters from around the world. This gives them no time to be involed in other activities.
  • Some People have over 400 and don’t know half of them. So, that can be unsafe
  • Facebook has a lot of spam and scams! Many users receive emails nearly every day from anonymous users asking to date and chat on other websites.
Twitter:

  • There is no privacy, anyone can follow you even if you don’t know them and see all your updates.
  • With only 140 characters being allowed you cannot give the detailed information you want to put in there.
  •  Tweets are all over the place. It can be difficult to pick over the Twitter updates popping up around the web.
Difference between Facebook and Twitter:

  • Facebook requires two-way verification for full sharing between two people. If someone doesn’t accept your friend request, you most likely can’t see what they are up to, because most people stick with default strong privacy settings. On Twitter, you can see just about anything about anybody, unless they protect their updates, which only a small minority of active users seem to do.
  • Twitter doesn’t have comments. So you can’t easily have a back and forth conversation about something like you can do over on Facebook.
  • Twitter has been used by TV shows to get feedback from their audience while Facebook gets few mentions in the media here and there
  • Facebook is very popular but mainly in young people while Twitter has skyrocketed in popularity and is even used by famous people and politicians.
  • Facebook sticks to the more traditional social networking where you maintain your profile while Twitter relies on its micro blogging feature.

Mohawk Power!! :)

My first year of Mohawk Power was amazing! We went to many basketball games and a hockey game. We played many pieces of music through out the season.  We played YMCA, Mason City Go, Iron Man, the imperial march, and my favorite You Can Call Me Al. The reason why my favorite song in Mohawk Power is You Can Call me Al is because it has a really nice beat to it and we played it for marching band season last year. So, it was cool to play it again this year. I have a lot of friends who are in Mohawk power and it makes it more fun.  My stand partner and I have become good friends.  One of my favorite places where we went was in the girls state tournament in Des Moines. Even though we lost, it was an awesome experience. My other favorite place where we went to was the hockey game. I never had been to a hockey game before so that was a cool experience. The cool part about Mohawk Power is that we get free t-shirts and we don’t have to pay to get into the game. The pep band makes the crowd more energetic and wants to make the get up and cheer.  We will usually meet an hour before the game starts and we will practice about forty-five minutes. After we practice, the band will walk to the gym and wait until the other game ends. When they are done, Mohawk power will play about 5-10 minutes than play the national anthem.  The pep band can either watch the game or hang out with their friends or family. When it’s forth quarter through the game we will play right away. Unless, if the dancers are dancing, or etc. After we play for 4th quarter, we can go home or stay for the game. Sometimes, we will play in the beginning of the boy’s game and we can leave. I am really glad I signed up for Mohawk power and I am excited for next year to play!

My Pets! :)

One of my favorite things in my life is my pets! I have always loved animals since I was a little kid.  My grandpa and grandma used to live on a farm and the only memory I have there is the animals. I own three pets today! I have a cat, a dog, and a ferret.

I have had my cat since I was 2 ½ years old.  Her name is Love "V". I got Love "V"from my grandma. They were going to kill her but I didn’t want them to so my parents, my brother, and I agreed to take care of her. My cat is a mischief but most of the time she can be good.  Love "V" can be nice one minute and 2 minutes she can be mean. She plays with the dog and the ferret.  My cat loves chicken. When we have chicken in the refrigerator, she will follow you around or will stand by the refrigerator 24/7.

I have a dog named, Tiny. I had Tiny around 4 years now.  Tiny is a full blood Chihuahua. She was originally my neighbor’s dog but he passed away. Tiny used to weigh 22 pounds but now weighs 13 pounds. Her old owner used to give her bacon, eggs, and pancakes for breakfast, he gave her what he eats for dinner, and a chocolate cake for dessert. Now, we give her carrots. The owner wanted her be put asleep because he didn’t think anyone will love the way he did. He only let me own her. Tiny is a really good dog.  She listens to me and she never bites.

Chi-chi is my ferret. She was originally my brother’s when he moved out. When he moved to cedar falls for collage, she stayed with us and she is ours now. Chi-chi is the thief in the family. She will take anything under the couch like toys, pencils, food, and etc. She has cookies that she will take under the couch also.  Chi-chi is like a kitten. She likes to play, and she has a lot of energy.  Usually ferrets bite but chi-chi doesn’t.  I love all my pets!

Friends around the world!

I have met a lot of people in other countries. I know people who live in Nigeria, Africa, and people who moved to china. I mostly met them from the exchange program. I met some people on facebook. I learned many life lessons from them and how their country is more different than ours.

One of my close friends is Debbie Ayuba. Debbie was an exchange student. She lives in Nigeria, Africa. Debbie and I met at church. I wasn’t really close to her at the beginning but we got really close on New Years! Her sponsor family was hosting a party and Debbie and I became friends in a minute. We had so much in common. Sometimes, I swear we are twins. Debbie respected people for who they were. I learned a lot by Debbie. If I need something or need someone to talk to she would be right there. When Debbie left back to Nigeria, we are still really close. Every now and than, I will call her and see how she is doing. Rarely, we will communicate on the Internet.

One of my other friends is Blessing Ibrahim. Blessing and I met on facebook and on gmail. Debbie introduced me to her. Blessing is another exchange student. She lives in Africa also. I talked to her on the phone a lot when she was in the United States. I met her in person once. I met her at Adventureland in Des Moines, Iowa, when the exchange students got together and spent their last day with there host families and friends. Blessing was really sweet, kind, and cool person. I wished I could spend more time hanging out with her.
(Left to Right: Me, Debbie, Blessing, and one of Blessing friend)

Janet Markus is one of my other friends. We also met on the Internet. Blessing and Debbie introduced Janet to me.  Janet and I still communicate on the Internet. She lived in Africa too but she moved to China a couple months ago. Janet is really nice, and a sweet girl. Janet and I have a lot in common too. Janet and I both enjoy basketball. We never met in person yet but hopefully one day we will.
I learned a lot of things from Debbie, Blessing, and Janet. Mostly one thing I learned from them was to keep on having fun and don’t let anyone ruin it. The other thing I learned from them is sometimes we take things for granted and don’t realize it. I am very grateful for having them in my life.
